Ballet -
Ballet is a style of dance that focuses on control, balance, and clean, precise movement. Dancers practice things like posture, pointed feet, turned-out legs, and smooth, graceful motions. It’s also the foundation of most dance training, as it teaches the basics of how to move your body correctly. Ballet helps build strength, flexibility, coordination, and good technique, which carry over into almost every other dance style.
Jazz -
Jazz dance is a style of dance that is energetic, expressive, and rhythmic, often performed to upbeat music. It mixes sharp, quick movements with smooth, flowing ones, and focuses on style, performance, and musicality (moving in time with the music). Jazz dance is commonly seen in things like musicals, concerts, and shows. Like ballet, it’s also an important genre in dance training, helping dancers develop coordination, flexibility, and strong, dynamic movement.
Contemporary -
Contemporary dance is a style of dance that is creative, expressive, and fluid, combining elements from ballet, jazz, and modern dance. It focuses on freedom of movement and emotion, allowing dancers to experiment and tell stories in unique ways, often using both smooth, flowing motions and sharp, powerful movements.

It focuses on grooves, body control, and personal style, with movements that can be sharp, relaxed, or powerful. It’s a popular genre that helps dancers build confidence, coordination, and musicality, while allowing more freedom.
Lyrical -
Lyrical dance is a style of dance that combines smooth, flowing movements with emotional expression, often performed to songs with meaningful lyrics. It blends elements of ballet and jazz, and focuses on telling a story or expressing feelings through movement, matching the dancer’s motions to the words and mood of the music. Lyrical is a soft spoken genre focusing on technique as well as the flexibility throughout the legs and then back.
Modern -
Modern dance is a style of dance that focuses on freedom, expression, and natural movement, rather than strict rules. It often uses grounded movements, contractions, and release, and allows dancers to express emotions and ideas in a more personal and creative way compared to traditional styles like ballet.
